‘Amazon’ Bailey Bridge

This model is a one sixth scale training model of the ‘Amazon’ Bailey Bridge (8 bay double single Bailey bridge) built by Royal Engineers over the River Rapido at Monte Cassino, Italy. The bridge it represents was built on the night of 13th May 1944 and was one of nine bridges built in three days by the Allies.
